BVSDWatch.org is looking for a few good community members!

After a brief respite, BVSDWatch.org is back to help the community keep an eye on BVSD. We started off as a group focusing on the decision surrounding ballot measure 3A, but now we will move forward as a watchdog group with a mission and structure to help the community and BVSD work together to make a better school system.

One of the first things we want to create is a BVSDWatch.org steering committee that includes community people with varying BVSD-related interests and connections. We believe a board of about six people or so would be a good group to start with. This board would guide BVSDWatch.org in its initial structure and then help to create a timeline of issues to support/discuss. If you would be interested in being on the committee please contact us at the link to the left. We'd also like to create sub groups with specific missions to help spread the tasks. Examples would include going to Kinko's to make copies of flyers, writing press releases, handing out flyers and public events and/or getting signatures for a petition, or taking notes at BVSD meetings and posting them on the website with an analysis. We can safely say that most of us work for a living and would find it hard to do more than one of those things without making another part of our lives suffer. But if we share the load we will quickly become an influential watchdog group that the community and BVSD Board and Administration will pay attention to. One of the reasons some groups "flame out" after a time is that there is usually just one impassioned person leading the cause and not enough people to share the load with. We hope you, or someone you know, might be able to help and keep BVSDWatch.org moving.

This won't require a lot of time, just an interest in helping create a better school system for our children.

P.S. If you have any insider information on how things are proceeding with the PC rollout (i.e. are people happy/indifferent/sad, are teachers getting what they need to do their job, etc.) please let us know!
