The intent of BVSDwatch.org is to help maintain a trustworthy, healthy, and strong public school system, thereby assuring the quality of educational opportunity for children in Boulder Valley. The BVSDWatch.org introductory statement read by Mike McDaniel to the school board February 27, 2007: Good evening.
My name is Mike McDaniel, and I am the founder of BVSDWatch.org. We have been around for a few months now, but we thought it would be important to make an official introduction to the community.
BVSDwatch.org is a grassroots watchdog group, striving to assure the transparency, effectiveness, accountability and community responsiveness of The Boulder Valley School District.
Many people in the community know why we are here and have been very supportive of our efforts and our willingness to ask questions and analyze the answers. Many of our founding members have had disagreements over a number of past BVSD issues; things like school closures, fingerprinting, technology purchases, sex ed curriculum, etc. We are here not to rehash these issues, but to move forward.
We all want the same thing for our children, and we hope you will take our stance as that of a Critical Friend who is here to make this district a better place.
We are here for you in the community who have long needed a strong voice. Our website will be the hub of BVSD community information we hope many of you will visit regularly. We are ramping up the site to include additional commentaries, links to other watchdog groups, and BVSD meeting dates, and other BVSD information that can sometimes be challenging to find.
We are very excited about our growing movement and all the support we have received from the local community and those working within BVSD, and we want to thank those who have been behind us and supported us from the beginning. We plan to be an ongoing collective voice for the community for a long time to come.
And again we encourage community members to visit our website, BVSDWATCH.ORG and sign up for our newsletters and give us your feedback on BVSD.
Thank you.
