BVSDWatch.org has heard some teacher concerns about how pressures on BVSD to close the achievement gap are creating some unhealthy dynamics.  We are interested in hearing from teachers, students, parents or BVSD staff about any signs you have seen of efforts to “game” the system in any way including grade/test score inflation for minority students or underachievers or deflation for non-minority students or high achievers.  Any comments on what is happening in the schools or at the Ed Center would be appreciated.  Requests for anonymity will be honored.

"I am a teacher in the district and I am

    • Concerned that I am being told that a student can not receive a score below a 50%.  Kids familiar think the new system is a joke. 

    • Concerned the district's way to narrow the "achievement gap" is to lower the scores of the high achieving students.

    • Concerned the superintendent search was a waste of money - they have been grooming Chris King for the last two years, teachers have considered (his appointment to the Superintendent position) a forgone conclusion."
