No. 161 :
So these so-called "experts" are fatalists that believe mankind is incapable of escaping our base desires? "We're telling you to have sex, because you're going to do it anyway." This view shows an utter contempt of my children's generation, relegating them to an animal-like status.

These so-called "experts" wonder why our children behave like animals, when that's all we've taught them to behave as?

Does ANY parent honestly desire for their children to experience the heartbreak associated with a sexual relationship gone bad? What if their daughter contracts HPV, and leads to cervical cancer. (Despite what the manufacturers of Guardasil would have us believe, if you don't have sex promiscuously, or with a promiscuous partner, your chances of contracting HPV are statistically zero.) Do you desire for your son to father any number of children, and either be responsible for child care payments when they're still in High School? Or would you honestly PREFER that your son convince his girlfriend to get an abortion and go through the emotional trauma of that decision?

Aside from anyone objecting to the "antiquated religious" concept of abstinence, can you conceivably object to stopping teen pregnancy and stopping teen STDs?!?

Yes, abstinence is idealistic (both sexually and in regards to substance abuse) but it is possible. But do you really WANT your children to learn these lessons "the hard way" by experiencing them first hand? Shouldn't you rather WANT them to learn that the false information promulgated by the NEA and so-called "comprehensive" Sex-Ed programs only leads to broken hearts, a dulled sense of romance, destruction of the values that families are built upon, and possible early death?

Let's see - the only framework for behavior is "I don't care what kind of sex you have with man to man, woman to woman, man to woman and then from another panelist "it feels good no matter if its a one night stand or a committed relationship. Well, that pretty much sums it up, the sex part anyway. What a mess of negative images and limited concepts these brainy, mouthy people can gush over. And our culture gets weirder and individuals get more lost with every passing misconcept about religious ideas of relationships being sacred and the need to be cherished. Nothing like that was mentioned in this context. These panelists and this school board should be ashamed and people responsible for this travesty should be fired.

Just one quick thing, THIS IS DISGUSTING!! I could not bring myself to read it all!! But, from what I did read, Those speakers arw very bad for this Country!! Telling kids they have had sex with people they didn't love! That ia real bad!! You are only supposed to have sex with your spouse!!

Number 6 is completely right. Had the panelists words been propaganda, such as say, the way modern Christianity preaches intolerance, they would have verbally attacked or felt threatened by the brave girl, rather than agreeing with her and supporting her view.

No. 165 :
I think that while some of the panelists got a bit carried away trying to make themselves accessible to the students, their message was positive and the public reaction to this was way out of proportion. It was a good panel, and I didn't find it one-sided. By "balanced" do we mean that we should have somebody up there saying that teens should not be educated about sex and drugs? That keeping drugs illegal is important? A large body of scientific research says the opposite. "Balancing the panel" by admitting these "views" is like teaching intelligent design in biology class.

No. 166 :
Go back and read the last few sentences of each of the speakers to get an idea of their imparting words. my paraphrase:

1. basically there are lies being told to you about drugs and sex.

2. balance your focus on life with sexual experimentation too.

3. It's having a child that will ruin your life most of all.

and some of the questions are more telling about how wrong these people are.

no. 164, they did not respond to the girl. they avoided confronting their own bias and used the chance to finish with an attacked Christianity as being intolerant.

No. 168 :
You're all missing the point. The psnelists were not only saying that drugs are great, and to have indiscriminate sex. They were educating us to the dangers but also the facts concerned with drugs and alchohol. I was a student at that conference, and may I also point out that when the girl stood up and spoke out saying that the panel was biased she was appluaded even more heartily than anyone else at the whole conference. Her views were different than most people's there, but she voiced them bravely and we all respected her for that. This conference would not be a big deal at all if not for the spin that Bill O'Reily and other biased media sources are putting on it. None of the conferences held at Boulder High school are required. Some teachers take attendence at the beginning, but if someone were to tell their teacher that they were uncomfortable, they would be allowed to leave. May I also point out that this is remarkably similar to the pledge of allegiance. It is required that the pledge be recitetd during schol, and students during the pledge ARE required to listen. The pledge contains the line, "Under God," which makes some students uncomfortable. The pledge is recited to a captive audience, forcing students to hear the line,"Under God," whereas the conference was optional.
