Page 7 of 20 No. 61 : We have ratings for movies that take into account the maturity of the audiences. The parents of these kids are probably in a position to judge their kid's ability to benefit from these "experts' and their permission should have been sought for their kids attendance.I also feel that the dangers and risks of addictions were omitted except for the Q&A period No. 62 : I have been hearing about the "controversy" over this panel for a couple weeks now, particularly on "The O'Reilly Factor". It's pretty clear from reading the transcript that O'Reilly took selective quotes out of context to create a controversy. This was one of the most responsible presentations about sex and drugs I have ever seen. I am printing this out for my 14-year old daughter to have her read. No. 63 : Disgusting! No. 64 : Yes, O'Reilly's distortions of this honest and responsible presentation about sex and drugs was disgusting. No. 65 : As a pastor, i disagree with some of the things spoken by the panelist but by the same token I can not discredit anything that they were saying. The only thing that made this so horribly inappropriate was the fact that it was horribly one-sided. And before statements are made concerning religious movements and "sin" there should be someone there who is educated (not just any anybody)who is "religious" who can balance or defend what is being said. Thanks for the opportunity to speak out. No. 66 : I read the transcript and for a moment I thought this is not as bad as O'Reily described it. But it is. The main message is: sure, go ahead, experiment. Drink, smoke some pot, maybe kill someone just to know how it feels... And if you can't do it in Boulder, come on over to LA. We will fix you up. No. 67 : This is ridiculous. First of all, I read the entire transcript. Kids having sex and doing drugs is not a given- unless we go around telling them it's a given!! I guess since somebody, somewhere will always be a murderer we should just teach kids how to do it "safely". The fact that anyone would agree with these people is apalling the fact that they were actually allowed to speak to children is insane!!!!! No. 68 : I'be been hearing all this buzz from O'Reilly about this horrible panel in Boulder. O'Reilly has portrayed these guys as absolutely rotten and disgusting. While Sacre and Becker are crude and innappropriate, I found, as a 45 year old man, the others to be saying what I've been saying for years. Tell the truth and then guide kids. Don't tell inflated propaganda to kids and use that to control them. It will backfire. 15 year olds are a lot smarter than 35 year olds think they are! I'd toss Becker and Sacre out on their butts and keep the rest. They are making a difference. No. 69 : George Garcia was run out of Kansas City, Missouri before his contract was up....he is a phony and a snake oil opportunist... I see he has landed again... his legacy in our city was to spend millions on “outside experts” and then jump ship when the people got tired of his shell game….the results………1000s of kids were left damaged and without decent education….. No. 70 : Important points couched in a "if it feels good, do it" context isn't doing these kids any favors. Using taxpayer money to have someone stand up and say "Experimenting with homosexuality is normal" is truly beyond belief. These are kids 13-18, not college kids. There are nuggets of good info. here but the 60's "Cultural Revolution" tone of the assembly outweighs those salient points. |
