Page 8 of 20 No. 71 : My impression is that these guys were overly concerned with ingratiating themselves with the students and proving that they were cool and funny and open-minded. They were also using this talk as an opportunity to promote their particular political agenda which, surprise surprise, was on the far left side of the spectrum. It's interesting that, while thinking themselves to be very broad-minded and inclusive, they presented a very uniform and narrow ideology which no doubt ostracized many in their audience. No. 72 : I saw Bill O'Reilly's segment on this topic tonight. While he is guilty of some misrepresentations of the panelists, his overall criticism and moral outrage was entirely appropriate. These people are so far from mainstream thinking...they need to get out more. No. 73 : It is dangerous when these "adults" validate the teens' behavior, thereby sending the message that it is okay. In today's world, the teens accept the "friends with benefits" concept, where sex is performed with no attachment. We need more instilling of values rather than the liberalism of adults trying to be "cool." No. 74 : You don't need these people telling your kids what is and isn't sin. There was also a real lack of information regarding criminal penalties for kids who engage in any of this behavior. It was all infuriating, but to say that masturbation is okay for 12-14? What about 15-17? I've seen boys criminally convicted for sex with girls at 15-17yoa. Wonder how they feel walking around tagged as a sexual predator for the rest of their lives? P.S.-This country was established on Judeo-Christian ethics. It has given you the freedom to say these things. Since 9-11 there has been a huge surge in converts to Islam. Some estimates indicated Islam will be the number one religion within 20yrs. What do you think a bunch of Muslims will say about a young unmarried girl having sex? Get ready for the stoning. No. 75 : over sympathizing with the audience? They were extremely flippant with their jokes and such it is hard to takes them serious. No. 76 : Having watched the discussion on Bill O'Reilly between Bill and Dave Kopel (columnist for a Denver paper), I just had to read the entire transcript myself. And, after reading it, I can't believe that Dave Kopel could show his face publically with his flat out lies. This panel was not trying to warn students against this behavior -- they were saying "go ahead and have sex because you are going to anyhow. And, go ahead and do drugs because you are going to anyhow." What a shame. No. 77 : I'm astonished that these supposed 'educated professionals' are so inarticulate. They sound like adolescents who haven't really grown up themselves, yet are offering older sibling 'advise.' As an educator, I'm dismayed a school district judges these people to be appropriate assembly material. It's no wonder our youth are at risk today! No. 78 : Why isn't CPS - social services - bringing charges against these people? Comment 5 is correct, if a parent said these things to their 9th grade child, CPS would remove them. No. 79 : i attend fairview high school in boulder, its the other school in boulder, and i have followed all the controversy around this closely. i think people need to realize that all the panelists did was try to educate the kids, and make sure they know how to make good choices. kids are going to drink and do drugs and have sex whether or not people tell them not to, and i think people should be educated and responsible rather than be ignorant and get in trouble somewhere down the line. knowledge is power, and i am proud to be a boulderite!!! No. 80 : Man oh man, if you people think what these panelists said was bad, you'd be shocked if you went to a high school party. As a recent college grad I can tell you that the girls that were sheltered in high school are usually the biggest sluts. Enjoy. |
