I don't think the panel was as bad as I originally thought, but that is pretty ridiculous. I find it funny that 33% of the kids said they had sex, and then the panel acted like that was the majority. Christians don't think masturbation is bad because of Onan, how about sexual immorality? What is really sad is that DOCTORS are writing prescriptions for marijuana for people that just want to get high. The panelists said that basically anyone can just call a doctor and get a prescription, ridiculous.

Totally disgusting and the last student was on the money...completely one sided.

Excellent session that didn't shy away from hard truths and difficult issues.
Well done BVSD.

I find it ironic that the nuanced argument used by the panelists is understood by the high-school students but completely lost on the adults commenting on this article. Those of you who are “scared” and “intimidated” by the nature of this discussion need to understand that our children live in the real world, where reality is scary and intimidating. Frank discussions like the one above are the best tool we have in empowering them to make good decisions.

This is rediculous. If they are really against bad behavior they did a poor job of showing it. Sounds like they were glamourizing it to me. It's like "Remember in the 60s when we were high? He He He..ahem..yeah, don't do that"

You know I wanna know where they get off telling kids that absent teaching and parents who try to teach kids to have an ounce of resposibilty are the fault of kids having sex so young. I wanna know where they get off telling kids to do drugs WHICH THEY DID. I wanna know why the parents are suing them for intentionally trying to force thier moral or immoral views on thier children. and you were right by the way if a parents did those things if a parent told thier kids to go have indiscriminate sex and drugs they would loss them hard to believe the schools have a right to FORCE kids to listen to it.

As a 63 year old man who had NO sex education throughout school, especially through high school, this panel was naming issues and situations that were on my mind those years ago but NO one addressed them. Reading the whole transcript was illuminating and I would have thought wouuld be welcomed by those who needed honesty and integrity on these issues.

How totally irresponsible of these "adults" to treat this subject so lightly. To assert that having sex with someone you don't care about is equivilant to making love to someone you love...perhaps this person has never "made love"!

I think the panel was apropriate, honest, and interesting, and I had no problem with my Boulder High School sophomore hearing the panelists' points of view. Yes, more balance would have made it even better, but if you actually read the entire transcript, it's certainly nothing to get panicked about (unless you get upset about any mention of s-e-x in any context).
Outraged statements from previous guest users leave me wondering about their reading comprehension skills. I guess those folks really didn't understand that the main point of the panelists' comments was that everyone needs to make their own *educated* and *informed* decisions regarding their actions. And that drug use and teenage sex can be very harmful and teenagers need to be aware of the risks. Brush up on your reading skills, folks! There's nothing in this transcript even close to warranting the media frenzy we've had over this.
